FAQ Series: What is Web3 Publishing?
First let’s answer what is web3. Web1 was the original web of Google and HTML and early Amazon. Web2 was the social web of Facebook, blogging and twitter, the interactive web. Web3 is the next generation of the web that uses crypto or cryptocurrency in new ways that will extend previous versions.
Metamask, a crypto wallet in a browser extension, is maybe the most widely used way of allowing crypto to work with web pages, the closest thing to web3 at the moment.
But there will be much more, and web3 publishing will be part of that. Soon, we believe crypto will be integrated into the web at a much deeper level, and Cortex makes it simple. Each page and each note even each data element can be crypto-enabled.
And all the experiences and things that will be published will be owned and controlled by the users. You will own your posts, your comments and assets. And you will be able to mix them in new ways.

Because it’s all signed everything under that can also act as an identity. So each page can transact. That also means that each page has an owner, and a history, and data, and much more.
